I started drinking warm lemon water every morning because many people said it helps detox the body and improves digestion. But after a few days I started feeling acidity and mild burning in my stomach, especially on an empty stomach. Should I stop drinking it?
Lemon water may irritate the stomach in some people, especially when consumed on an empty stomach or in large amounts. Acid reflux, gastritis, or sensitivity to acidic foods can make symptoms worse.
You can try:
- Diluting it more
- Drinking it after eating something light
- Reducing frequency
If acidity continues, it’s perfectly fine to stop. You do not need lemon water for “detoxification” because the body naturally detoxifies through the liver and kidneys.
