Overview.

what motivated you to want to lose your weight?

I noticed that my energy level had reached a minimum. I was fatigued even when performing minor tasks, and always bloated and out of place in my clothes. I desired to be strong enough to work the day, have fun with friends and family, feel good again, as a working professional. This is when I have decided to focus on my health and redefine my lifestyle.

Your body has no right to be any excuse.

What were your goals?

My primary objective was to lose 7kg and that too in a healthy manner and not by any extreme dieting. I felt the need to feel lighter, more active, and self-confident, enjoy my Bengali non-vegetarian food without a sense of guilt, and make the lifestyle decisions that I could maintain over the long-term perspective, as opposed to seeking short-term solutions.

How did you manage to achieve your goals?

I went slowly and realistically about my change:

  • Conscious of healthy eating, making sure that each dish contained sufficient protein, fiber and health fats.
  • Prepared at home and most of the times, and they tried more of the lighter versions of traditional Bengali cuisine.
  • Exercised regularly- home exercises, taking brisk walks, short cardio sessions were also included in my routine.
  • Trained myself to listen to my body, eat when I was hungry, and stop when I was full and not to snack between meals mindlessly.
  • Kept track of my improvements by my emotions, my energy, and the tightness of my clothes, instead of focusing on numbers.
  • Protein should be the priority in every meal: chicken/eggs/lentils/yogurt.
  • Take a lot of water in a day to remain energetic.
  • Plan ahead and prepare meals to avoid temptation to unhealthy food.
  • Add movement breaks in the work hours- stretch, walk or do some quick exercises.
  • You know, you have to celebrate small victories; it is not progress, but consistency.

Favorite Recipes:

  • Chicken with Mustard and Steam Vegetables – Bengali taste, low-calorie, low-fat.
  • Egg, Spinach Stir-Fry – fast, satisfying and healthy.
  • Chicken Veggie Curry with Brown Rice – nutritious and wholesome.
  • Moong Dal, Lau (Bottle Gourd) – light, easy to digest, comforting.
  • Egg Salad, boiled Egg, Quinoa, tomatoes, cucumber – refreshing and energy giving.

How did Verywel Fit Help?

VeryWel Fit enabled the journey to be sustainable. The team helped me with:

  • My own diet plan was in line with my preferences.
  • Easy living exercise regimens.
  • Nutrition and accountability monitoring tools.
  • Support and encouragement whenever I had difficulties.

Did you encounter setbacks?

Yes, sometimes I would overeat on work stress days or socialization and my energy level would decrease. However, I was taught not to quit after failures are encountered but to restart anew and move on.

Advice for Others.

Don’t think short-term, but long-term. Big, progressive steps result in actual transformation. Monitor improvement, including energy, confidence and physical sensation. Assuming that I could lose 10 kg in a sustainable manner, then you can as well.

What are your future goals?

I am currently 60 kg and want to keep my weight as 60 kg, be active, and progressively build strength. I also would like to inspire others with the help of VeryWel Fit, showing that it is possible to change healthily and in a long-term perspective, as long as one is ready to commit.

The most important lesson?

What you give to your body it gives back to you. Bad days will come, good days will come, but being consistent and understanding yourself will allow making a change.

Healthy change does not mean perfection, it is just improvement.
