I am 35 years old and trying to eat healthy food like fruits, oats and salads. But instead of losing weight I have gained almost 3 kg in two months. I don’t eat junk food anymore. Could healthy food still cause weight gain if portion sizes are large?
Weight gain can still occur even when someone switches to foods that are generally considered healthy. Many nutrient dense foods such as nuts, smoothies, granola or certain healthy oils contain high calorie content. If total calorie intake remains higher than the amount of energy your body uses each day, gradual weight gain is possible. The key is not only the type of food but also portion size and overall daily energy balance. Structured meal timing, moderate portion sizes and including adequate protein and fiber can help regulate appetite and metabolism more effectively.
