Listen to this article

“(Lyon–PSG 1–2) After 307 games and 256 goals, it’s over for one of football’s biggest stars in his hometown of Paris.”

Kylian Mbappé smiled widely and celebrated with his teammates when the referee blew the match off. And there was a celebration with dancing in front of the fans.

The 25-year-old superstar played the entire match, but there was no net recognition in the farewell. Mbappe confirmed on 10 May that he is leaving the club .

– It is emotional. It has been a great honor to be part of the biggest club in France for so many years, he announced on social media at the time.

French President Emmanuel Macron was on hand to congratulate and hand out honours. He gave Mbappé a big hug and exchanged a few words with the 25-year-old.

But it was his teammates who put the ball in the goal.

Ousmane Dembélé and Fabian Ruiz scored and sent PSG into the dressing room with a two-goal lead in the French Cup final against Lyon.

Kylian Mbappé chased scoring all the way. The PSG star clearly and naturally wanted to end his PSG career with a goal.

He made his debut for the club as a 19-year-old against Metz in September 2018. He scored on his debut and PSG won 5–1. He leaves the club almost six years later. He stopped at 256 scores.

Mbappé is still not confirmed as a Real Madrid player, but all indications are that he will leave the French for the Spanish capital as he continues his career.
