I sometimes hear a clicking sound in my knee when climbing stairs or standing up. There is no pain but the sound is noticeable. I exercise occasionally but not intensely. Should this type of joint sound be considered normal or could it indicate early joint problems?

Joint sounds without pain are often caused by normal movement of tendons or tiny gas bubbles forming and releasing in joint fluid. If there is no swelling, stiffness, or discomfort it is usually considered harmless.
